D.C. Modifies and Tightens Phase 2 Restrictions

On November 23, 2020, the Mayor of the District of Columbia announced the tightening of certain “Phase 2” restrictions due to increased community spread of the COVID-19 virus, as well as data suggesting that private gatherings significantly contribute to the transmission of the virus.  These Phase 2 modifications start November 25^th. Among other things, this Order decreases the limit on outdoor “mass gatherings” (in confined outdoor spaces) from 50 down to 25 persons, unless more specific guidance dictates otherwise.

In addition, indoor gatherings are now limited to 10 persons, including social gatherings inside individual homes or condominium units, as well as in common area spaces.

Gyms, private trainers and other recreational centers must suspend all outdoor group exercise classes of 25 or more people and all indoor group exercise classes.

It is expected that these modified Phase 2 restrictions will continue to be in effect at least through December 31, 2020.  D.C. continues to provide specific guidance for condominiums (and apartments) – the most recent version (as of this date, last updated in October) is located here.
