    • Andrew Elmore will be presenting a seminar regarding community association insurance issues at CAI’s Virginia Leadership Conference on July 29, 2016.
    • On June 21, the firm will be holding two classes that are required for Virginia Common Interest Community manager licenses – General Law and Regulation and Fair Housing law. See the Seminar Series page for details.
    • Sara Ross spoke at the Community Association Law Seminar held January 28-31, 2015 as part of a “Hot Topics” panel of respected practitioners addressing the latest trends in community association law. Sara presented on the effect of social media in association collection practices.
    • Wil Washington presented at the Community Association Law Seminar on January 29-30, 2015. He co-presented the Annual Case Law Update, the best-attended session at the Seminar. Wil is a member of the College of Community Association Lawyers.
    • Steve Moriarty appeared on the January edition of “Your Community, Your Call,” a Fairfax County public access TV program. Steve addressed live call-in questions and commented on upcoming Virginia legislative issues.     • Jerry Wright has been named a principal of the firm effective in 2015. Jerry works in the firm’s Richmond office and has distinguished himself as a leader in the Virginia legislative arena and the Central Virginia Chapter of CAI. Congratulations to Jerry.
    • Wil Washington taught a CLE webinar hosted by Strafford Publications on Thursday, March 13, “Structuring Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Condos and Other Planned Communities.”
    • The Firm has been certified to teach 4 hours of Virginia CICB-approved manager license renewal training. A 4-credit session will be held on May 1 and is open to all Virginia community managers, covering Fair Housing and Common Interest Community Law Training. The training will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the CWMEB Conference Center at 3201 Jermantown Road in Fairfax, Virginia.

    • The Firm has scheduled its 2014 Seminar Series. The Spring schedule includes a Saturday morning session in the firm’s Fairfax Conference Center.See the Seminars page for details.
    • Brendan Bunn and Bruce Easmunt presented educational seminars at the 2014 Conference and Expo for the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of CAI held March 22.Brendan’s topic was “Hoarding, Loitering & Other Abnormal Behaviors” while Bruce presented on legal issues regarding trees.
    • Jerry Wright will be a keynote speaker at the 2014 Community Associations Day and Trade Show for the Central Virginia Chapter of CAI. The Trade Show will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at The DoubleTree by Hilton, at 1021 Koger Center Boulevard in Richmond, Virginia. Jerry will kick off the Trade Show at 10:00 a.m. with presentation of the Virginia Legislative and Common Interest Community Board Update along with the Common Interest Community Ombudsman, the Executive Director of the CICB and the Chairperson of CAI’s Virginia Legislative Action Committee.

    • Ken Chadwick is scheduled to present at the 2013 Community Education Seminar sponsored by Fairfax County. The Seminar will be held at 6:30 p.m. on November 4, 2013 at the Fairfax County Government Center. The seminar will cover legislative and regulatory updates for Virginia Community Associations.     • Sara J. Ross has been elected as the newest shareholder of Chadwick, Washington, Moriarty, Elmore & Bunn, P.C. Congratulations to Sara, who becomes the firm’s eighth shareholder effective January 1, 2014.
    • Brendan Bunn is scheduled to co-present an educational session at the November Manager Luncheon held by the Washington Metro Chapter of CAI. The session is entitled “Managing Strange, But True, Common Area Issues” and will be held on November 19 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Tysons. See www.caidc.org for details.
    • The Firm has concluded its Fall Seminar Series for 2013. Hundreds attended the 2013 Seminar Series, and the Firm appreciates the participation of its client volunteers and managers. The Seminar Schedule for 2014 will be posted in January.
    • The Firm has added a special Seminar for the Association of Lake Area Communities near Smith Mountain Lake. . The Seminar will be held on September 28 at 9:00 a.m., and Steve Moriarty, Jerry Wright, Mike Sottolano and Bruce Easmunt will be making presentations.     • Steve Moriarty and Jerry Wright are scheduled to make presentations at the Trade Show and Education Expo held by the Southwest Virginia Chapter of CAI. This “CA Day” event will be held on Friday, September 27. See www.caiswva.com for details.
    • Brendan Bunn and Allen Warren each presented seminars at CAI’s Virginia Leadership Retreat on July 26-27, 2013. Allen’s session focused on amending governing documents while Brendan’s course was entitled “Strategies For Curing the Top 10 Dysfunctional Boards.”
    • Jerry Wright and Andrew Elmore served as LAC representatives at the CAI Virginia Leadership Retreat Luncheon on July 27. Meanwhile, Wil Washington served as the top center square in the Hollywood Squares event, playing Alexander Scott from “I Spy” in the spy-themed quiz presentation.
    • Several changes to Virginia’s community association statutes became effective on July 1, 2013. See the Firm’s Resources Page for details regarding the legislation, as well as an updated, searchable PDF version of the Firm’s Virginia Statute Book.
    • Allen Warren represented the firm on a panel of attorneys at a legislative forum program sponsored by Cardinal Management. The program was held June 4 and covered a variety of timely topics in community associations law.
    • The Firm has begun its Spring Seminar Series for clients and potential clients. The first session was held April 25, 2013, and the sessions continue through mid-June in Prince William County, Williamsburg and Roanoke. See the Seminars tab for details and registration. The Fall Series begins in September.
    • Brendan Bunn and Allen Warren are each scheduled to make presentations at CAI’s Virginia Leadership Retreat to be held in Hot Springs, Virginia on July 26-27, 2013. Allen will teach a session about amending governing documents while Brendan’s presentation focuses on curing the “Top 10” types of dysfunctional boards.
    • Robert Brant has joined the firm as a new associate. Bob attended the College of William and Mary as an undergraduate and received his JD from Catholic University.
    • Mike Sottolano is co-presenting a program entitled “Top 10 Things EVERY Board Member Should Know.” The seminar is sponsored by the Central Virginia Chapter of CAI and will be presented on June 5 (Wellesley Homeowners Association) and June 6 (Charter Colony Foundation).
    • Ken Chadwick spoke as a panelist on May 29 at a legal update program held by Armstrong Management. Ken served on a panel of attorneys regarding Virginia legislation and other issues.
    • Allen Warren will represent the firm on a panel of attorneys at a legislative update program sponsored by Cardinal Management. The program is set for the evening of June 4.
    • Brendan Bunn appeared on Fairfax County Government’s live call-in TV program “Your Community, Your Call” on March 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. Brendan appeared to discuss the best practices for association meetings. Replays are of the show are available on the Fairfax County website.
    • Andrew Elmore and Jerry Wright each made presentations at the Central Virginia CAI “CA Day” on March 13, 2013.
    • Sara Ross, Bruce Easmunt,Brendan Bunn and Allen Warren each presented seminars at the Annual Conference and Expo for the Washington Metro Chapter of CAI, held on March 23, 2013. Sara and Bruce presented on association security issues; Brendan presented a session on amending governing documents, and Allen taught an abbreviated Essentials class for association volunteers.
    • Steve Moriarty was elected President of the newly formed Southwest Virginia Chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI). The Southwest Virginia Chapter is headquartered in Roanoke and serves all of southwest Virginia.
    • Brendan Bunn and Sara Ross are scheduled to teach an all-day Essentials of Volunteerism seminar on behalf of Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
    • Steve Moriarty has been elected President of the newly formed Southwest Virginia Chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI). The Southwest Virginia Chapter is headquartered in Roanoke and serves the New River Valley, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Roanoke Valley, Salem, Smith Mountain Lake and all of southwest Virginia.
    • Brendan Bunn is scheduled to appear on Fairfax County Government’s live TV program “Your Community, Your Call” on March 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. Brendan will appear with manager Donna Newman to discuss the best practices for community association meetings.
    • Andrew Elmore and Wil Washington spoke at the Community Association Law Seminar in January 2013. Wil co-presented the annual Case Law Update at a large general session of the Seminar, while Andrew served on the “Panel of Pundits” to discuss a variety of community association law issues.
    • Andrew Elmore and Brendan Bunn are scheduled to co-present at the Central Virginia CAI “CA Day” on March 6, 2013. Their topic will be “Managing Strange But True Common Area Issues.”
    • Sara Ross and Bruce Easmunt are scheduled to present a seminar regarding association security issues at the Annual Conference and Expo for the Washington Metro Chapter of CAI, held on March 23, 2013. Brendan Bunn is also scheduled to present a seminar regarding the amendment of association governing documents.
